The year draws to an end...a sad one at that but then life goes on and we discover new things.
overall the year was kind to me and i see myself running a shop in zurich in the new year and that will once again take up so much time but with good rewards.
Just finished re organizing the shop and my online as there has been so much sold and then in the new year i will be loading a lot of stock. Hey....how do u like the new look website and so much easier both for u and me ,thats a huge thank u to my web designer RETO who has great patience and great every changing good ideas.
So the watercolor pictured here is that of H.Vatarian an iranian artist who worked in tehran early 1920s and this one is dated 1945.He was one of the early teachers of the famous artist sumbat.
with some research there is a great link ...sumbat these watercolors are difficult to find and very desirable.wishing all a wonderful christmas and a splendid new year.

German Ceramics Exclusive Lamp 1970s

we are up to our knees in snow once again and one would think that all the mess created would keep a person like me at home cuddled up next to the fire with a good book and some gluwine.no ways jack i was out and about seeing what the market turned up and lo and behold pictured left a stunning Fohr lamp c1970s in a brilliant orange with a copper color glaze giving it a stunning effect.this has a white clay base and has felt underneath.no markings.
why do i suggest Fohr? the glaze is tight and the bronze colorway is well controlled all in all finished off to a high standard.this factory did not produce a lot but what they sent into the market place was of great quality.once again a unique piece in perfect condition and i tossed the original shade as it had seen its years torn and scrappy.
speaking about having a good fireside book there is the 50s german ceramic book coming out in december and i suggest for those who want to know more, order it now.it is very detailed and well researched and has plenty high quality pictures......50s ceramics
still snowing today and yes u guessed it i will be out again whilst all others stay at home cuddled up with ...whatever!

that time of the year again when all the dealers, traders and bargain hunters start to wet the lips as the huge weihnachts sammler borse is around the corner...6-9 december at the messe zurich.
opening times wed-sat 10.00 to 21.00 and sat 10.00 to 18.00 and there is plenty of parking available
i will be there with a large variety of stock at stand no.3.403 in the antique section showing a large selection of procelain 1740 to 1970, furniture, silver and glass not to forget some stunning english and german paintings.......http://www.antiques-international.ch/
so why should you come along at all.for the discerning buyer there are the greatest bargains to be had,got to be there early.Collectors from aound the globe flock there to snap up the treasures that switzerland has to offer...english,french,german,russian and italian dealers make this a big visit as there are more that 200 dealers not only selling the best of the best but aslo the newer collectors items that will start booming in a few years.
last year was a good year with a large attendance and come friday i noticed that the dealers had smiles on their faces and so did most of the visitors.
what was so special...a tiffany vase that was snapped up at a reasonable price of sfr230. and english porcelain dating 1780 at a paltry sum of sfr150 for 6 pieces.art glass at give away prices and loads of it.
paintings were real popular and sold well and i will be having once again some good affordable art.
a lady and her friend, the stand next to mine, sold a lalique bowl for a laughable sfr15. having no idea of the value but then thats what makes it worthwhile visiting. There are also the tables loaded up with goodies in a seperate section and there one can surely find something to go home with even if its only a small keepsake.

Snow snow snow...and the faries come out to play.
Saturday, November 10, 2007, 07:25 AM - Fat Lava
Posted by Administrator

so its the first snow for the season and i tell you its 40cm deep and still snowing.early this morning i awoke to this grand stillness as if nothing else existed with a small bright light, reflection of the brillant white snow.standing staring out the window, half naked and looking at this wonderful sight each and every surface covered with some degree of snow leaving no place for the little birds to pearch.
small footprints could be seen on the terrace leading from the outer to the covered section and making me wonder who or what had been running for cover.they were so tiny,on inspection, and made me wonder whether the fairies had come out to play as in certain sections there was a sparkle in the snow as if someone had sprinkled glitter as they went.....but no..i now know that it was the fairies as this must have been the miniscule snowballs that they were throwing aroung having fun.
i then realised that i had not heard the cheerful chirp of the birds and went looking for seed only to realise that i had not prepared a bird feeder.immediately there was a flash as i had just purchased a FAT LAVA birdfeeder...
this one has a pumice glaze and is well manufactured with no name or number but i guess a rare piece from the 60/70s. that it was never used as its so clean and the sisal rope has no dirt or wear.like most of us we buy something and then it goes into the cupboard left and forgotten.
so now i have the opportunity to hang this one up and use it and the birds are now so fashionable with eating out of a fat lava feeder...now all i need to find is a dish of some sorts for my pussy.
